It won’t take grease. The zerk is okay and grease passes the zerk fine. I measured the depth of the hole and it is 2 mm shallower than the other side so I think they didn’t drill it deep enough. I drilled out some plastic ball joint material but it still isn’t taking grease. Anybody had this issue before?
Fuck this thing in particular.

So progress is slow?

Yes. I couldn’t take any more school work so I’ve been doing doordash and, despite being a miserable rainy day, no one is ordering. I get to rock out in peace at least.
Some sketchy wires I noticed sitting here. On the building at the back.

I’ve heard that sometimes the cheapo
grease that the
manufacturer
uses
can
harden
while
the part sits on a shelf for a long time. There are tools out there
that force
light oil into the joint to help
flush it out
, after which you push the
light oil out with your desired grease. Search “zerk fitting clea
ner
”

The cleaner fitting is more expensive than a new tie rod.

All day Highway driving. Was a no internet day for the most of it. I’ll be getting back to garage modification updates soon and then followed by working on the Eagle and Rampage in a garage that can both make and retain heat! Not relevant NOW. But winter is coming...

I thought summer just got here. It's been rainy and mild so I can barely tell other than I just started summer school. Updates always welcome.

Did you try to back out the zerk a quarter or half turn? Might give enough clearance to pump in some grease. I’ve had that happen where I basically buried the zerk into the ball and couldn’t grease it.

I did try that and all I got was grease squirting out from the base of the zerk.

This is Canada. Winter is ALWAYS just around the corner... Even while it’s still winter.

I bought a zerk fitting kit and usually replaced all mine. In the end with how often I took the front apart, and how often the rubber boot tends to rip, I switched to an energy suspension polyurethane cap. Pop off the tie rod, remove the cap, pack with grease from the top, roll it around and you are good to go.
